Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face
In this podcast, comp sci professor Cal Newport and endurance athlete Rich Roll talk about what’s wrong with modern work. I have deep respect for both of these people and their point of view and I found myself nodding along with most of what they had to say on this show. I recommend it if you’re interested in finding ways to avoid burnout and level-up work-life balance.
But these two don’t have much experience in the kind of work environments most of their audience endures — the corporate grind that often feels like, well, a slow punch to the face.
This show has many valuable insights, but Rich and Cal didn’t learn them the hard way.
